We’re stoked to announce the release of Xocé Román’s debut EP, Rey de La Carretera, now available on all major streaming platforms under Psyched! Records.
Based in San Francisco yet rooted in their experience of the Puerto Rican underground, Xocé Román delivers their own take on garage, post-punk, and psych sonic conventions. This refreshing irreverence to the genre is integral to the EP’s character. Raw, messy, and constantly surprising, Rey de la Carretera fuses anger and wit across five tracks: “Yo lo maté por ti cabrón,” “Extraterrestre socialista,” “EL gran creador,” “El féretro,” and “Rey de la carretera.” Rowdy but never imprecise, the EP showcases Román’s preference for hybridity over adherence to formulas. From the woes of our societal hellscapes at home to those abroad, and from the personal to the collective, Xocé Román’s offering is a meeting of heart, rage, and fun.
Written and recorded by Xocé Román, the EP came to life at the iconic Santo Recording studio in Oakland, with expert engineering by Marta Álvarez and Jason Kick, and was masterfully polished by Xocé Román, resulting in a distinctively bold and impactful listening experience.
To support the release of “Rey de la carretera”Xocé Román will be embarking on an exciting mini west coast tour, including performances at Psyched! Fest in San Francisco, Psychoactive Festival in Portland, and FreakOut Festival in Seattle. These electrifying shows will bring their dynamic performances to fans across the region.
